Lower School

A foundation for lifelong learning in K-6

Linder’s Lower School offers a dynamic, engaging environment where students build a strong foundation in reading, writing, and reasoning. Math becomes meaningful through real-world problem solving and visual tools that help students truly understand concepts—not just memorize steps. Science is hands-on and exploratory, while Orton-Gillingham and structured writing build confident, capable communicators. It’s active, fun, and designed to stick.

Multi-sensory, hands-on learning

At Linder, learning comes to life through hands-on, multi-sensory instruction that supports all kinds of learners. From Orton-Gillingham literacy to tactile math tools, students build confidence through strategies that truly work.

Whether tracing letters in sand, using manipulatives to solve math problems, or acting out story elements, lower school students engage their senses to deepen understanding and make learning stick.

Experiential learning that goes beyond the classroom

At Linder, learning extends beyond the four walls of a classroom. Through hands-on projects, field trips, real-world problem solving, and community engagement, students connect academics to meaningful, tangible experiences that deepen understanding and spark curiosity.

Our inclusive environment encourages intellectual risk-taking, bold questions, and creative thinking. Whether collaborating on a project or presenting ideas, students are supported in finding their voice and exploring new perspectives. At Linder, learning is discovery—and our goal is that every child leaves knowing they’re capable of far more than they ever could have imagined.

STEM focus

STEM isn’t a standalone subject at Linder—it’s embedded into how students think, question, and create. Whether it’s coding/robotics, engineering challenges, or science experiments, students engage in hands-on projects that spark innovation and curiosity.

Other subjects like reading, writing, and history are woven into STEM work, helping students make meaningful connections across disciplines.

Social-emotional growth

At Linder, social-emotional learning isn’t an add-on—it’s a core part of the school day from the very beginning. Through daily opportunities to practice, students build self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation. Teachers model and reinforce these skills in real time. As facilitators, they help during group projects, while students work through a disagreements, and they help students learn to bounce back after a conflict.

As students grow, they learn to advocate for themselves, respect others’ perspectives, and build strong, healthy relationships—foundations that support both academic success and lifelong well-being.
